The Truth No One Tells Freshers: What ₹6 LPA Companies Actually Look For

By Mr Pratap Patil, CEO – Walstar Technologies Pvt Ltd.

Personally, I want to share something important — something that I see regularly as the CEO of a growing IT company.

Let’s be honest…
Everyone wants a ₹6 LPA job.
But when I ask basic questions like:

“What projects have you built?”
“Can you show me your GitHub?”
“Explain a for-loop…”
Most students or freshers go silent. No answer. No work to show.

What I Experience Every Week

Every week, I meet freshers and students asking:

“Sir, can you refer me to a company?”
“I’m looking for a job, please help…”

But the truth is, many of them are not ready.
No hands-on experience. No real code. No strong basics.

Instead, I hear excuses:

  • “Our college didn’t teach us properly.”
  • “We didn’t get good placement.”
  • “No company is giving us a chance.”

But let me tell you clearly — today’s job market is not looking at excuses.

The Reality You Must Accept

Today, companies are not hiring just based on your degree or mark sheet.

They want proof of skills.
They want to see what you’ve built, not just what you’ve studied.

Here’s the harsh truth:

  • 80% of students don’t even have one working project
  • Many can’t explain basic programming concepts
  • Still expect ₹5–₹8 LPA just because they graduated

A Degree is Not a Job Ticket Anymore

Let me make it simple:

Degree ≠ Job
Portfolio = Job Magnet

If your resume doesn’t have real work in it — a project, GitHub profile, internship, etc. — your chances become very low.

Real-Life Examples I’ve personally seen

Student A:

  • Built 2–3 small projects
  • Did an internship
  • Shared his work on GitHub
….Got hired by a startup at ₹4.5 LPA before graduating

Student B:

  • Did nothing outside college
  • Just waited for placement
  • Now asking for job referrals
    ….Still unemployed after 8 months

What made the difference? Skills and self-initiative.

My Advice – From One Professional to Another

If you want a ₹6 LPA job, first ask yourself:
“Do I really have ₹6 LPA skills?”

Because in today’s world:

Certificate doesn’t guarantee a career
A working project speaks louder than your degree

What You Should Start Doing Today

If you’re serious about your future in IT, then take action:

  • Build 2 real projects every 3 months
  • Share your code on GitHub
  • Attend webinars, join tech meetups
  • Keep your LinkedIn updated with your work
  • Network with real industry people

These small steps can change your journey.

Final Thoughts

Yes, companies are hiring.

But they are not hiring unprepared candidates.
They are hiring people who have skills, proof, and passion.

So don’t just wait for opportunities.
Create your own. Build your skills. Be job-ready.
